MTW was awarded a two year contract to deliver a business support programme in Barnet for the local construction sector. The borough has one of the most ambitious regeneration programmes in the UK including the £7 billion Brent Cross Town development.

We started by researching the construction and property maintenance sectors in Barnet and recruiting local SMEs of all sizes on to the programme.

We are helping them to find local contract opportunities with the Council and main contractors/developers. We help to upskill them and improve their chances of winning. We organise Meet the Buyer events and workshops to bring Buyers and Suppliers together to spark off long lasting relationships. We help Buyers to fulfil their s106 obligations and Social Value commitments to procure locally. 

We are also helping to draft the local procurement provisions in Barnet Council’s Supplementary Planning Document to lay the foundations for the future and keep more expenditure in the local economy.

The directory will form part of the Council’s Local Progressive Procurement Support Scheme which will support local SMEs to access opportunities from building and refurbishment projects in the borough and anchor institutions. This first step will help buyers to find local companies and give local SMEs a better chance of winning work from projects in the area.

MTW was part of a multi-disciplinary team managed by Lambeth Council which undertook the Business Planning consultancy for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 NLHF Lottery Applications for this regeneration project in Lambeth.

We provided advice on the Governance of the project, undertook consultations and market research and prepared the business plan for Brockwell Hall and Stables which is due to be transformed into a sustainable weddings, events and community venue.
